Always reserve your movers two to
four weeks before your moving day.
Start packing any items you don't
need right away ahead of time.
Clean out the closets, the attic, the
garage, the shed and the basement first.

Don’t use boxes without tops, it's difficult to stack them properly in the truck.
Always tape boxes instead of
interlocking the tops. Only use packing tape for boxes and for furniture try it first to see if it strips the paint when removed.
Use wardrobe boxes for packing
clothes in closets, and suitcases for clothes in drawers.
Always pack and unpack any breakables
over a soft surface.
Always stack dishes upwards when
packingand never use printed newsprint to
wrap fine china.
Use permanent ink to clearly label all boxes on the sides and on top.
Pack all important
documents together for easy access including: passports,
family records, children’s health records, insurance information, owner’s
manuals, etc.
Don't pack the kids favorite possessions - it will make the transition much easier if they have them.
Check the owner's manuals on large
appliances and electronics to make sure there are no special instructions
before moving them.
Pack all electronic equipment with
bubble wrap for extra protection.
Pack the content of one room together and don't mix items from different
rooms.
Disconnect all utilities
in advance so you are not charged after moving day.
Make sure you arrange to transfer
school records the week before moving day.
Don't forget to keep plenty of cleaning supplies out so you can clean up before leaving.
Don't forget to put in a change of address and transfer utilities in advance.
When taking furniture apart, place the nuts and bolts in plastic bags marked with permanent ink.
