company you choose. It's also wise to learn your State’s local regulations
that apply to movers in your area.
Here are some questions to help you find a mover that will fit your needs best:
Do you offer free moving quote? (For homes larger than three
bedrooms, request an on-site estimate.Thoroughly identify all the items you need moved. Don't forget the
attic, basement and garage.)
Is your company licensed, bonded and insured?
Are my items insured during the move? (Even if a mover is insured,
it doesn't mean your items are covered during the move.)
Do you require a deposit?
Do you have a minimum charge?
How do you charge after the minimum is met - in 15 minute
increments or every half hour?
Does your company charge by the piece or by the hour?
Do you charge extra for larger items such as piano moving, large
screen televisions, or any extra flights of stairs to move items on? (This
is not unusual.)
Do you charge for the travel time from your office to my home?
Do you charge extra for moves in the evenings or on weekends?
What payment options do you offer?
Do you have full-time employees or do you use day labor? (Be aware
day laborers may not be properly insured.)
Are your employees trained properly? How are they trained?
Do you carry Worker's Compensation for your employees?
What kind of cancellation policy do you have? (You should allowed
to cancel or postpone up to few days before your move.)
Do you have any suggestions to make the move easier? (Movers who
care about customer service will do everything possible to make your move
a smooth transition.)
Do you have a contact number should any challenges arise moving day?
